Could Dreams Reveal the Future?

Last night I dreamed that I was in Brooklyn, NY, taking the subway like a legitimate resident of the New York City borough.  I was apartment hunting in Brooklyn and found the most amazing Brownstone to call home. (The Brownstone had been separated into "condos"/apartments.)  It was far from perfect, considering my HGTV expectations of a kitchen with marble, granite, or quartz countertops and dark wood cabinets, but it was perfect for me.  Eventually in my apartment hunt, I ran into my cousins that live in Brooklyn.  Strange ending to a perfect beginning, but when I woke up, I began thinking back on my dream.  Could this dream be perhaps a sign of what could happen in my not-so-distant future?

The fact that I was apartment hunting in Brooklyn was strange to me.  Every time I think about living in NYC, I consider living in Manhattan and ONLY Manhattan.  In this dream, I looked at Brooklyn as the only place I would consider calling home.  And even stranger, I was thinking about becoming a life-long NYC citizen.  I only want to live in New York for a few years, so that thought was the strangest one of the whole dream.  If dreams do reveal tiny parts of the future, then I am extremely excited to begin my NYC adventure.  But first I must complete my 4 years of teaching/paying back Teaching Fellows in North Carolina, preferably Charlotte.....

Ferragamo: Classic Italian Flats

Let me just take this moment to say that I am currently lusting over the anniversary edition of the Ferragamo Vara flats.  These iconic flats are absolutely worth the craving. Pshh, I'd rather have these than a cupcake right now, and that's saying a lot.  Design my own?  Why of course I would!  Although I can design my own, I would much rather have the pair in the picture above.  The combination of my favorite colors on these adorable shoes is just pure perfection.  These are flats, but I'm glad that they have a short heel.  After reading the latest issue of InStyle magazine, I learned that ballet flats are not good for your back because they have no support.  Well, guess what?  These flats offer the support needed for your back, not to mention they are comfortable as well.  Now, my next mission is to find $500 dollars or more to support my shoe fetish.

I Be on My Junior Level.....

In the tune of "Suit and Tie" by Justin Timberlake, "I be on my junior level ****."  I've been a junior for a full semester now, but I can officially claim that I am a junior my illustrious university! I am so proud of myself and happy to have gotten through perhaps one of my toughest academic years.  Many nights I prayed that God would deliver me through this tough spring semester. Indeed, God does answer prayer.  Some night I looked at my workload and wondered if I could see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I had some enjoyable classes this semester.  I had to read a ton and write a ton, but hey, what do you expect an English major to do.  I especially enjoyed my American Literature class, Advanced Composition class, and Advanced Grammar class.  I rekindled my love for writing in Advanced Composition so I should probably forewarn you that I may be writing more often on the blog.... or Tumblr.  In American Literature, I discovered some writers that I may just have to read for fun... lol.  Only an English major would say such a thing.  I read an excerpt from Harriet Jacobs's Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, and I am interested in reading the entire novel/autobiography, especially since I saw it at Barnes and Noble for $6 the other day.  Not to mention, she is a home-girl from the beautiful state of North Carolina, making me even more interested in reading her story.

Between all of my classes, a whole whopping 18 credit hours worth of 'em,  and remaining active in the few organizations I am involved in on campus, I had little time to read.  So I look forward to spending my entire summer reading the books that I picked up before and during the school year.  These books include but are not limited to (I had to throw that in because I will probably buy some more before this whole shabang is said and done): Matched by Ally Condie, Sisterhood Everlasting by Ann Brashares, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Is Everyone Hanging Out without Me: [And Other Concerns] by Mindy Kaling.  I must justify the reasons why I am reading the last two books.  I have never read The Great Gatsby before.  Go ahead, sue me.  I am an English major who has not read one of the classics, so what?  I have always wanted to read this novel but have not found the time to read it or the money to buy it.  Finally, I had both. Plus, the movie with Leonardo di Caprio is coming out so.....  The last book by Mindy Kaling was a must read for me.  I have become obsessed with her show on Fox The Mindy Project (because I see my life going down the same road as the main character's [in some aspects]), so I found it extremely necessary to purchase the book when I saw it at Barnes and Noble while shopping for books for school.

Moving from the topic of books, I am super-duper excited to teach in the coming years.  I recently volunteered/observed at a middle school in the county my school is in and fell in love again with the idea of one day teaching the little kiddies.  I am inspired to go out and teach everyone and everything, much like I did when I was younger.  There's something about the school environment that I am drawn too.  School makes me feel better, and it's the place where I am most comfortable, besides my home of course.  Volunteering/observing at the middle school reminded me of the joy and excitement I receive when I walk into the school doors.  However, I must clarify that I would prefer to teach high school rather than middle school, but I might be seeking licensure for middle grades English/Language Arts.

Well, this update has been plenty long enough.  Hopefully I will update you sooner rather than later...

Fashion Inspirations

Today, well tonight, I decided to tell about my fashion inspirations.  I love watching videos on Youtube by the beauty gurus, my favorites are Akaydoll and Sarahbelle93x, but  I cannot say they inspire my style.  I love their videos because we have some of the same tastes when it comes to fashion.

My true fashion inspiration comes from television.  I try to follow celebrity fashion, but it is so hard because their style is always changing.  I do find some inspiration from Lauren Conrad, Kendall Jenner, and Michelle Obama.  My television fashion inspiration comes from shoes like Pretty Little Liars and Gossip Girl.  The preppiness of both show inspires my own preppiness.

Well, that's enough rambling about my fashion inspiration.
Be blessed!!

My Latest Obsession

Yes, I have been away from this blog for quite some time now.  I have not visited in maybe a year.  I have not let anyone know about my fun times during my freshman year at college.  I know I owe you an explanation. You can blame my new obsession called Tumblr.  Tumblr is my new blogging best buddy.  Although it is not a true blog like this one, it is an ode to picture awesomeness and fashion loveliness.  I love my Tumblr and can truly say I am obsessed.  I have not been on as much recently because I am a working/school girl.

Work and school are kicking my butt, but I know it's for the best.  I will hopefully be done with taking physical sciences in a day, and I will be super happy!  I do not have a really strong scientific mind.  It's actually kind of sad how not scientifically minded I am. I would much rather do math, read, or write.  (Math is not something I usually do for fun.)

So this is my official apology.  I will try to do better in the following year... cross your fingers!!

It's Almost Time

Wow, it's almost time for me to go to college; I truly cannot believe it!!
That's all I wanted to say. Well, I was in a blogging mood when I started writing the title, but now not so much.
I'll try to blog in college, but who knows?
